The Catchment Based Approach (CaBA) is an inclusive, civil society-led initiative that works in partnership with Government, Local Authorities, Water Companies, businesses and more, to maximise the natural value of our environment.
From the source of our rivers to the sea, across towns, cities, countryside and coasts – a healthy water environment is essential to all of us. It reduces the risk to our homes and livelihoods of flooding.
The CaBA embeds collaborative working at a river catchment scale, delivering a range of environmental, social and economic benefits. Managing the tops of these catchments affects what happens downstream, therefore it makes sense to employ collaborative working to maximise these 'ecosystem services' for all stakeholders.
The Vision for the Severn Uplands Catchment Partnership builds on funding commitments from DEFRA to explain how the partnership has used evidence to plan its work, outline successful projects achieved by collaborative working and sets out future direction.
Their main vision is to 'Work together cross border to reduce the effects of flooding, drought, and pollution in a way that creates a healthy environment for biodiversity and the local economy'.
